![]() ![]() ![]() Both have serious consequences for the rest of the world, and yet neither Japanese leaders nor media seem prepared to address these issues. The second is climate change, to which Japan, as a major industrial power, is a significant contributor and, as an island nation situated along volatile fault lines, is especially vulnerable. ![]() The first, and perhaps more immediately obvious, is its relationship with China and Korea, tainted beyond hope by Japan's imperialistic exploits in the previous century, as well as by today's intransigent nationalist politicians and continued US interference. The two greatest challenges for Japan's present and future are firmly rooted in the past. ![]()
